Definition of SPACE…

c. Sufficient freedom from external pressure to develop or explore one’s needs, interests, and individuality: “The need for personal space inevitably asserts itself” (Maggie Scarf).
d. Music One of the intervals between the lines of a staff.

We all need a little ‘me time’ every now and then – It is absolutely essential for our health and wellbeing.  Carving out a little time for yourself relieves stress and allows you an opportunity to recharge your batteries.

We have already discussed burnout in previous blog posts, but I am going to mention it again as I see it day in and day out in our Wellness Clinic.  The hormones that run through your body during constant stress are not beneficial to your health and happiness – or those around you.

‘Me time’ can be different for everyone. My ideal ‘me time’ is my sunrise daily Yoga.  Don’t get me wrong, it does not get any easier getting up at 5:00am each day, but my WHY is strong enough the the endurance and the ‘how to’ becomes simple.  I know that if I miss my class, the day flows on and I have not found that inner balance and peace to take on the day at my best.  Another ideal ‘me time’ is wandering through the local markets… stopping at random stalls, absorbing the energies, the laughs, the drama around me – and of course taking my time to carefully pick my weeks worth of fresh nuts, seeds, fruit and veg.  It relaxes me to not be on a ‘schedule’ for a few hours.  For others it may mean a massage every week after work on a friday, or walking the dog every day.  It can be going for a drive alone, or relaxing out on the couch on a sunday.  Everyone is different.

The reason it is so important is that being in a constant state of stress and overwhelm will deplete your clarity, concentration and focus.  The smallest amount of re-charge time will make a huge shift in your life.  You will experience a sense of self-assurance, an abundance of health over time as you implement this more and more, and an inner happiness like never before.
